About Peak
Peak is the mountain encyclopedia of Swadesh Nai Swarga. It documents the mountains of Nepal, the routes up them, the expeditions that climbed them and the people and communities who live among them.
It is written from Nepal outward. Nepali and Sherpa climbers, guides, porters and surveyors are named and credited as the protagonists of this history, not as support staff in someone else's story.
How we document
Every hard fact on Peak (an elevation, a coordinate, a first ascent, a permit rule) carries its sources and a status:
- Official
- Published by a surveying or government authority.
- Consensus
- Agreed across independent reference sources.
- Disputed
- Sources disagree. Peak shows the competing figures.
- Estimated
- Derived or approximate, and labelled as such.
- Not yet documented
- We have no source we trust yet. Peak never fills the gap with a guess.
Each profile also shows when it was last updated and its editorial status. The 3D terrain is built from AWS Terrain Tiles, which combine SRTM and other open elevation models. Heights in the 3D view are exaggerated so the range is legible; every label shows the true elevation.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong or a source is better, tell us at info@swadeshnaiswarga.com with the page and your source. Community contributions with review and revision history are planned.
